Description
An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) vest is a lightweight, no-pull vest with removable ID patches that visually identifies a dog, cat, or other support animal in public — helping handlers with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other conditions avoid confrontations with landlords, business staff, and fellow travelers. While no federal law requires an ESA vest, wearing one provides instant visual proof of your animal’s support role and can save hundreds in avoided “pet” fees under the Fair Housing Act.
What Is an ESA Vest?
An emotional support dog vest (also called an ESA dog vest) clearly signals that your dog provides therapeutic support. Unlike a therapy dog vest used in clinical settings, an ESA vest is designed for everyday public identification. A visible vest and a Service Dog ID help staff recognize your animal’s role quickly.

ESA Vest Size Guide
Choose a vest that fits comfortably, as your support animal will wear it for long periods. Measure chest girth and leave space for two fingers between the tape and the body. The vest should not pinch the neck or shoulders. XS is suitable only for toy dogs and very small animals.
Use the sizing infographic below. Weight is often the most accurate sizing guide.

For most ESA cats, XS works best. Larger breeds (Maine Coon, Ragdoll, Norwegian Forest Cat) may need size S. XS can also fit small pigs, raccoons, and other compact support animals.
